Basement Project 4.0

It's been a year of projects around the house...I painted a giant dresser, twice (photos of round 2 pending), I bought an end table for the basement off Facebook which I painted, decided it didn't quite fit the space and so gave away to Catholic Social Services (CSS), not to mention other projects I didn't post about which mostly consisted of furniture assemble.

The most recent update has involved the basement, which still isn't officially done-done...but it's the closest it will be until I buy the new couch (from the Soderhamn collection at IKEA). And since it's from IKEA, God only knows how long it will take to assemble it. :)

We gave away a bunch of miss-matched furniture - bookshelves, a cool old church pew and the world's most hideous desk - leaving a nice, open space for me to play with redesigning. :)  I bought some black bookcases and a media center from Target last year with the idea of using it my hypothetical new home...but since that didn't pan out, I decided to crack it out and use it here for now.

I'd already built the 3 shelf bookcase and it had been sitting in the upstairs hall for a couple of months. Once the old furniture had been moved out, I brought this down to give me a feeling of progress. :)

I put the five shelf bookcase together over Monday & Tuesday evenings and then the media center once CSS picked up the other furniture. Sadly they could not take the piano.

I hauled all my movies down from upstairs (they'd been living in media towers in the hall) and voila! A nice little fully furnished (wo)man cave, complete with a marble topped island and wine! I had Zoo, a TV show based on a James Patterson novel, playing on my laptop and then on the TV while I worked. Don't waste your time watching it. The book is much better, plus the show is mostly environmentalist garbage. I think they're eventually going to make their way back around to the book plotline, but since I'm already on episode 8 of 13, I'm not holding my breath. Sadly it seems that it got renewed for a second season...which in all honesty I will likely watch...because once I get sucked in, it's hard to extricate myself from a show. There are a few exceptions, such as Arrow. Couldn't even make it through the first season of that superhero soap opera...not even with John Barrowman being it it! :)

Happy Friday and have a great weekend!

P.S. Captain America: Civil War came out last weekend. If you've been keeping up with the Marvel movies, this is definitely worth seeing. #TeamCap

P. P. S. I think I'm dying of the flu. I'm being a bit melodramatic, but it's allowed 'cause I feel like death. To give you some perspective, I've taken 2 sick days this week, which I never do. Prayers for my recovery would be appreciated!
