Project 3.0

What? Another project, you say?

Why yes! Painting Project #3 shall begin tonight...or tomorrow, depending on how I'm feeling. :)

I'm slowly redecorating part of our basement and this is end table to the right is the next part of that project. I have a Threshold black TV stand and two black bookcases (a five shelf and a three shelf) I need to assemble once we've moved out a giant metal desk and old church pew. I recently ordered a rug (a first for me...I'm an adult with a rug!)...it's supposed to be delivered tomorrow and I'm hoping it's as cool in person as it looks online.  The next time I make it to Kansas City I'm planning to buy some pieces from the SÖDERHAMN couch collection to finish the space. There's also a table in the upstairs hallway that is going to be painted and placed behind the couch...and in it's former location, my black and white houndstooth chairs and red cabinet shall reside. :) Hopefully the couch will be the final piece(s), pulling it all together and declaring it done. :)

I'd been looking around a bit for a nice little end table that will be placed next to the couch and under the window (once there is a couch). I found one on Facebook and am picking it up tonight after work. It's a Thomasville solid wood end table, 26" wide and 22" tall, and has a little water staining on the top...which is why I'm getting it for $30. :)  Oddly enough I'm buying it from someone on Facebook who bought a dress from me last month. Such a small world/city. :)

It's nice to have everything come together...albeit slowly. I can really picture what it's going to look like once it's done...and I think it's going to work out well. I like that it will have a complete, matching, adult feel...which is something I'm shooting for in my bedroom right now too. When I moved home after college I never really settled in, since I expected to move out again in the relatively near future. It's almost happened a couple times, but nothing has quite worked out. So I've decided to settle in, start adulting a bit better by getting rid of college leftovers like those wire "bookcases" with brightly colored baskets and replaced those with my newly painted, solid wood, seriously adult dresser (pics of the final product will be posted once I've somehow managed to get it from the basement to my room).  I'm also intentionally buying things I know I'll use once I have my own place, like the bookshelves and TV stand. Sure, I could keep using the giant metal desk that looks like it could protect you from a nuclear attack, but a) it's ugly...b) I mean suuuuper ugly...and c) doesn't go with anything else in the room. Once this is done, all the pieces will match and look great once I have my own living room to decorate. At least that's the plan. :)

Since this is Easter week and Friday is Good Friday, this will be my only post for the week. The only other exciting news I have to impart is that I am going to see Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice at the 12:30am showing Thursday (technically Friday) night. I'm still highly skeptical of Batfleck, but since I'm always Team Batman, I'm begrudgingly willing to give him a chance. Maybe. :)

Happy Easter and have a good week!

Song of the Day: In "honor" of Batman vs Superman, I give you "Bat Blood." You're welcome. :D
