Saturday night project

Over the past year or so I have been slowly building up my collection of small furniture items, taking advantage of really good sales to buy things that I will eventually need for my future living space. Speaking of which...still hunting, but have found a couple promising possibilities. :)

I've had my eye on this little cabinet from Target for a while, waiting to snatch it up once the price dropped. I finally bought it online a couple weeks ago for $72, which I thought was a reasonable price.

Last Saturday night was spent assembling it, which went more smoothly than I expected. One thing I really like about Threshold is that their products come with clear directions and all the parts/pieces (plus some extras in case they're missing or lost). It only took two episodes of Broadchurch (season 2!), two screwdrivers (the tool, not the drink) and a hammer...and a bottle of Shocktop...to put it together. :)

Overall, I'm very pleased. It's cute, functional and I love the shade of red. It's not too bright or orange-y, but still solidly red. I think it looks great with my black and white chair (also from Target and assembled by yours truly)...and with the addition of my Doctor Who pillow (a birthday present from Matt), the ensemble looks positively Whovian. :)

I'm also quite proud of myself for a) putting it together on my own and b) not breaking anything. Not that I frequently have mishaps when building furniture...I am not seasoned enough to be completely confident in my cabinet/chair/bookcase making abilities. :)

TTFN...and hope everyone has a good Tuesday!

  1. Turned out great! I really like the combination! Nice to know who my "go to" person is for furniture construction. I tried putting together a cabinet at my office that I bought for additional storage. I won'rt be putting up any pictures of how that turned out! ha!
