Chairs!

How did I spent my Friday evening, you ask?

Why, assembling a chair I bought myself as an early Christmas present on Cyber Monday!

Why, you ask? 'Cause I can. :)

When I move out, I want a "grown up" apartment. I want things to basically go together and not have a hodge podge of "whatever was free." So along with with other random houseware items, like the plate sets, I am slowly accumulating furniture for my future apartment, like this chair.

I found the Hudson Swoop Chair in Onyx (Houndstooth) on Cyber Monday. Since I loved it and it was very much on sale (about $80 off each), I decided to order two of them. In black and just off white, I figure they will go with most things, including the grey IKEA sofa I really want. Throw in some colorful pillows and we're in business! :)

I don't mean for them to be the main seating in a living room...just accent chairs that will be perfect for extra seating when guests are over. They are actually pretty darn comfortable and very substantial for the cost. The instructions were very clear and they weren't too hard to put together. I had to argue with it a little bit to get the legs to be even, but overall I'm very pleased with my decision. :)

Don't laugh...or do, I don't care...but I drew up a "hypothetical living room" - shown to the right. That is a very basic idea of what I'm looking at as far as a chairs-and-couch arrangement...which of course will depend on the actual room they end up occupying. But this is the gist of what I'm thinking about when making this kind of a purchase. A comfortable couch across from the TV for normal, every day use...and then the two chairs with perhaps a little table between them for coffee or books.

Completely off the topic of chairs...

Wish me luck this afternoon as I go meet with my future boss (Sen. Kolterman), his wife (who I've never met) and his office staff in Seward, Nebraska. Senator Kolterman is in the insurance business and works out of Seward (also lives there) and so thought it would be a good idea for his upcoming legislative staff (that's me and Kenny, his new LA) to meet with his work staff, since we'll be coordinating his schedule and working together.

I'm sure it will go fine - I mean, come on...who doesn't love me, right? - but naturally I'm not super excited for it. I'm not a huge fan of awkward situations, plus it's about a 30 minute drive into the middle of nowhere (ie. rural Nebraska). We're meeting at his office and then going out to dinner, which will be...interesting.

Just another step towards the inevitable.

Can it be Friday already?

I was just sent an updated picture of my cousin's new baby boy, Hunter James Murphy, and had to share...'cause the kid's so stinking cute! :)
