Another Legislative first...they are delaying the start of session (they were supposed to reconvene at 1:30pm) and everyone was kicked off the Legislative Floor - senators, red coats and all. The senators were instructed to return to their offices. Weeeeird.

Apparently an old style briefcase with wires coming out of it was found abandoned at the back of the Chamber. X-rays have been inconclusive. And there's apparently now a robot checking it out. Fire marshalls and state troopers abound on the second floor.
Side note: Has security sent out an email alerting people of a potential bomb threat? No? Big surprise. (grumble, grumble)

Word is the briefcase was found to be innocuous and they just finishing up protocol before allowing people back on the legislative floor.
