I love music and will attend concerts whenever possible. I've gone out-of-state a couple of times to attend specific events - Il Divo, Josh Groban and the Goo Goo Dolls come to mind. So when there are some good ones close to home, it makes me happy. And it looks like there should at least be a few this year.
VEGA is hosting Secondhand Serenade with Ryan Cabrera on April 16th and while I'm a little nervous about attending alone, I think it will be fun. It's an interesting venue...it's small with mostly bar stool-like seating and only a handful of tables & chairs, but the acoustics is good and it's in a better location safety/parking-wise than the David Cook concert earlier this month (which I did not attend).
Linsday Stirling is performing at the Pinewood Bowl on June 1st! She was in Omaha last summer, but I was in San Antonio the weekend she performed. I'm excited to finally have a good reason to check out the Pinewood Bowl as a venue. All the concerts and events I've ever been remotely interested in have been scheduled in June, July or August...and I'm sorry, there are few people I'd be willing to sit outside in a hot, humid, bug ridden Nebraska summer to see. Fingers crossed that the weather is nice the night of June 1st!

I'm also a big fan of buying "hard copies" of new CDs so I can listen to them when I'm driving (I'm not a radio kind of gal). I think my most recent acquisition was Imagine Dragon's "Smoke and Mirror." They are also performing in Nebraska this year...in Omaha on June 10th. And yes, I already have my ticket. :)
You can now pre-order the new Mumford & Sons album, "Wilder Mind." They released a single in advance called "Believe,"which is pretty awesome. I'm really looking forward to the whole album coming out on May 4th! I know they're starting up a new tour with some stops in the US...so I'm hoping they end up booking somewhere close enough for me to attend! They performed at the Pinewood Bowl a few years ago, but it was before they got insanely popular...which gives me hope they will book them at a better (indoor) venue this time.
JOSH GROBAN! :D Along with releasing "What I did for love," Josh Groban announced the April 28th release of "Stages," his new CD...and that he will be touring again this year. No locations have been announced yet, but I'm really hoping he'll be at the Pinnacle Bank Arena this time, since I've already seen him perform in Omaha (and Red Rocks in Morrison, CO).
So there you have it...it's your musical-y update for the week.
TGIF and have a good weekend.
~ Katie
