Happy New Year!
Everyone survive the festivities of New Years Eve? :)
Mine was nice...got together with a few friends at a friend's apartment and rang in the new year eating pizza, playing video games and a card game. Quiet and low key with friends...just the way I like it.

This morning I went into work to pack up all my personal stuff from the office, in an attempt to make Wednesday's insanity a little easier. Mom was nice and helped me pack stuff up and haul it to the car. It's amazing how much you can accumulate over six years...we filled my entire backseat and trunk with boxes and two small shelves.
For right now, I'm hanging in there. As indecisive as I am normally, when things get stressful, I get unbelievably practical, decisive and efficient. I know it's me hunkering down into survival mode and that it won't last...but for a while, I'll be really good at getting done what needs to get done.
Wednesday will likely be the same. That's when I will officially change offices and no longer be working for Colby Coash. After six years, I will switch over to being the AA in Senator Mark Kolterman's office. I'll be fine when the vote is taken (Coash had better win!) and when we're getting shuffled around from the old office to a hearing room to wherever we end up landing for our permanent office. Setting up the new office will be ok too...figuring out where everything goes...how much of my stuff will fit and what I'll have to box up for now. Getting used to everything new and different...a new office, district (chunk of Nebraska), boss and coworker.
I should even be ok next Saturday. The Governor's Gala is that night and I'm really looking forward to dressing up and attending the dinner and reception. I'm really hoping the green dress fits! And who knows, maybe I'll even get to dance at some point. Wouldn't that be lovely? :)
It's Sunday I'm worried about. Sunday is when the sh*t is going to hit the proverbial fan.
Now, I know some people say that if you plan for things to be terrible, it will be...that you should decide in advance that everything will be fine and that "happiness is a decision." Personally I think that's delusional, but to each his own. If that works for you, great. I do better when I understand myself and the situation. The less I'm taken by surprise, the better I handle things. And I've come to recognize that I can keep it together for only so long...and to expect things to get really tough for a while. If I see that coming, the better I am able to deal with it.
In the long run, I'll be fine. I love my boss and hate change, so this is really hard for me...but I also know that I will get used to things and the "change" will eventually become the "status quo." In the meantime I'll have days when I'm really sad and probably a bit (or a lot) cranky...just fyi...but I'll survive.
I always do.
Here's to everyone surviving 2015...and to it actually not being a crappy year! :)

UPDATE: After rereading this a few hours later, it would seem that I'm a little left of "hanging in there." A rough day can kind of sneak up on you. And I don't mean for this to sound all melodramatic, but posting on here is a way to let off a little steam without losing composure, which is a big part of my being able to keep it together. So yeah...it's just been one of those days.
