The legislature has 10 days to introduce new legislation, which is all that's really happening right now. Current highlights include Senator Chambers quoting mom's favorite "fellowship" line from A Man For All Seasons, which was weird. He also swore by "Senator Mello's head," which really is on par for him. Senator Larson (28) is no longer the youngest senator...that designation belongs to Matt Hansen (26), who is about 2 months older that my Matt. Also weird.
Thankfully we're closed on Monday (Federal Holiday - Martin Luther King Jr. Day), so Wednesday will be the official 10th day. And that's when really busy will get busier.

I'm still having a really tough time with the whole office change, new boss thing. My new boss and coworker are really nice...which makes me feel like a jerk for being so upset. It also doesn't help that I feel like I abandoned Senator Coash and David (though more news on that in a bit). It's been really hard not being there to help and take care of them.
And I think...I've decided I'm going through a form of grief. Not exactly the traditional 5 stages, but something like that.
First, I was in denial for weeks that this change was really going to take place. I mean, I knew it was going to happen, but just kept very "business as usual" and we didn't really talk about it at all in the office.
Anger made its appearance when I was driving home that first night (1/8). After already having a horrible and really long day full of tears and heartbreak, literally the last name I wanted to see popped up on my caller ID. Anger eventually shifted to just finding it funny. It was like someone sent out a memo..."ooh, Katie is having one of the worst days of her entire life. How could we make it worse?" (maniacal laugh)
*ring, ring*
I said "You have got to be kidding me. Of course...because, why not?!" out loud when I saw who was calling.
Ridiculous.
Bargaining took place Tuesday night, when my brain wouldn't shut up. I kept involuntarily figuring out ways to get my old job back...everything from walking into Coash's office and just asking for it to Kolterman firing me out of the blue, which would give Coash an excuse to rehire me. It didn't help that my job was still open. My old desk was just sitting there...unoccupied...taunting me. Uuuuugh.
I'm officially past Bargaining as of this afternoon. Senator Coash stopped down to let me know he had offered the job to a friend of mine and that he'd accepted. It will make it easier, knowing that a) my friend will be working for a great boss and b) that Senator Coash has such a good person working for him.
This leaves me stumbling my way through Depression...which really has been my shadow since Denial was washed away by that first wave of tears. I'm hoping that with Senator Coash's hiring a new me that it will help with finding my way to Acceptance...
Here's to a long weekend and as much sleep as humanly possible.

Good Luck Kate! You got this.
