On the Oscars...

I didn't watch any of the Oscars coverage last weekend, but I was interested in seeing the list of award nominees and winners. Some I completely agreed with, such as Cate Blanchett winning Best Actress for Blue Jasmine (if you haven't seen it, check out my review), and others that I think should have been given to other actors/movies. It's too bad Saving Mr. Banks came out so late in 2013, because it deserved more nominations that just "Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Score."

I like looking at the list of the nominated actors/movies, so that if there's anything on the list I haven't seen, it acts as a reminder for me to make time to watch it. For example, on the Best Motion Picture list, I only saw 2 out of 9 - American Hustle and Gravity - but plan to eventually watch Captain Philips, Her, Nebraska and Philomena, when time and availability via Redbox permits. They all looked interesting when they came out, but due to limited time and money, I didn't get to see them while in theater.

I was glad to see Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts were nominated for Best Performance by an Actress and Best Supporting Actress (respectively) for their roles in August: Osage County. They both did amazing jobs and deserved the nominations. All the women on the Best Performance by an Actress list are outstanding and very worthy of the nominee distinction...I may be slightly biased, since they're all on my personal favorite actresses list. How could you not love Dame Judi Dench? :)

And while I really enjoyed Despicable Me 2, I was glad (and not at all surprised) to see the Frozen won the Best Animated Feature Film award. It was just such a darn lovable and enjoyable movie...if you haven't seen it and are looking for something light and fun, I would highly recommend watching it.

Last but not least, one Oscars gem was Matthew McConaughey's acceptance speech. It was short and very good, so if you'd like to watch it, click here.

Enjoy and happy Tuesday!

P.S.
For those who may not have seen this on Facebook, there is a new member of the Quintero Family fleet. I took my 2012 Mitsubishi Lancer in to the dealership for some warranty maintenance and drove away with a 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport in Laguna Blue! The dealership "overpaid" me to buy out my Lancer lease, which created a "down payment" on the Outlander. I walked away with the same monthly payment on a car two years newer...plus I'll be saving $20 a month on my car insurance! I have been truly blessed when it comes to buying/leasing cars! :)
