I'm not a big fan of 3D movies. Most of the time I think they're just a waste of money, because there's nothing spectacular enough to justify my spending an extra $3-5 on my movie ticket. I liked UP...aaand I think that was it...until Gravity.
Everyone I saw posting about it on Facebook said you had to see it at the IMAX in 3D. I have to say they did enough nifty things with the movie to make it worth seeing in 3D...and everything is better when seen at the IMAX. :) I think it would still be worth seeing at a regular theater in 2D, since I expect it will lose at least some of the grandeur on a smaller, home screen...which basically means I recommend seeing this in theater, should you be at all interested in watching it ever. :)

I am also happy to report that there is more storyline than what you see in the trailer (thank God!). The first time I watched a trailer for Gravity, I was wrote it off as a movie that I would not be seeing because it looked boooring. Space shrapnel flying through a satellite...Sandra Bullock spinning into the void...more shrapnel...beautiful space-scape of Earth...end trailer.
How can you make a whole movie out of that, right?

Right?!
But like I said, there was more to it that than. They give you some background, not to mention other actors, before disaster strikes. Plus, the shots of Earth were breathtaking...and you certainly felt like bits of flotsam and jetsam were going to collide with your face when watching Gravity in 3D.
The movie is rated PG-13, so there is some gore, violence and one F-word gets dropped (though the circumstances are a little funny), but there's nothing really objectionable in it. Parts are pretty intense and the massive destruction could be upsetting, so I personally wouldn't take anyone under 12-13 yrs. old to see it...but otherwise it you're into action/dramas, I would recommend taking the time to go see it!
