Sat., March 21st
- Saturdays I try to catch up on sleep, the general goal being to miss the AM hours. I almost made it today. ππ€
- It's amazing how quickly laundry piles up...and I'm just one person! I did 3 loads of laundry, one of them white (which happens once every month or two, lol). Don't judge me for liking dark clothing! π
- I spent some of the afternoon reading Emma, accompanied by a cinnamon honey latte. While I enjoy the book, I do find it a bit dialogue heavy.
- I discovered the "Lightening Round" in Words with Friends. They pull together teams and you make as many words as possible, racing to reach 750 points. I like the collaborative nature of it, except when people drop out and one team is working with fewer players. Happened 2 or 3 times. So annoying. If you want to play a game, my user name is Calkateπ§. Yes, with a penguin. Calkate and Calkate21 were taken, so that seemed fun.
- Late afternoon I went for a walk with the folks & played Pokemon Go.
- My March Stitch Fix box arrived! While I liked most of what they sent, I decided to only keep one thing, a light dove grey blazer. I think I might wear it to work on Monday.* π
In case you're interested in giving Stitch Fix a try (ie. having a box of clothes picked out just for you arrive on your doorstep), get $50 off your first box by going through this link (and I'll get $50 off my next one)! Shout out to Katie P-A for making this blazer a nearly guilt-free purchase! π
https://www.stitchfix.com/invite/hpkb3btv84/give_50_get_ 50/ - With time for a little "self care," I tried a Burt's Bees face mask I picked up at Whole Foods during their beauty products sale. While it wasn't my favorite, I did really like their lip mask. I've never tried a lip mask before, but it was on sale for $1.79 (sold separately from the face mask), so I thought "why not?" One of my best purchases under $2 ever. It made my lips super soft and dewy. If you have any chapping issues, I'd suggest giving it a try. π’
- - I've been on a Florence Pugh kick, adding Malevolent to my list of her movies I've seen. While it had potential, it didn't quite pass muster and isn't something I'd recommend. I think King Lear is the next FP movie I'll watch. Side note: I like Florence Pugh better as a blonde. She had reddish brown hair in Malevolent (King Lear too, from the pictures). It could be because blonde is how I saw her first. I dunno.

Sun., March 22nd
- After completing an extra long set of stretches for my back (I missed Sat...oops), I read Emma with a cup for hot tea for a bit in the morning.
- While we had a plethora of wonderful Masses we could stream, we chose St. Teresa's and "attended" at noon. Well, we were shooting for noon. Apparently we can't be on time even when no travel is involved. At least it wasn't my fault for a change. π
- After Mass, we made bacon pancakes (bacon!) for brunch. With a side of bacon...because bacon. π₯
- Read some more Emma. That girl needs utter perfection when it comes to a fellow conversationalist. If someone is too quiet and reticent, they're cold and unengaging (Jane Fairfax). If they talk too much, they're annoying and smothering (Miss Bates). I've never felt that way...about...anyone...gosh dang it. In my defense, those who are too quiet just make me feel like I have to carry the conversation, which is annoying. The position of "quiet one" is already taken, thank you very much! π
- I wanted to watch something on the cute side last night, so decided on Midnight in Paris. Clearly I've seen too many horror movies lately. As Owen Wilson climbed into the old timey car with a bunch of strangers (that takes him back to the 20s), my first thought was "change the genre and he'd be super dead now." π
- After watching a dvd (MiP), I wanted to catch up on Brooklyn Nine-Nine (I think I'm 2 episodes behind?). Sadly my internet was being a butt, so I couldn't stream anything...which left me to choose from the hard copies of shows I own. Cringing sounded like a good idea, so I started watching The Office, with season 1 episode 1. I haven't rewatched the first two seasons, which is my excuse for starting from the beginning. We'll see how long I last before I want to do permanent damage to Michael (Steve Carell).
- Toward the end of the evening, my phone decided to freeze. And not just freeze, but super freeze. Navigating it to the restart screen was apparently the final straw, since that's where it got stuck, screen on, taunting me. This happened once before. That time I just let the battery run out and it worked fine once it had charged and restarted. This time mom was smart enough to Google the problem and found that on a Galaxy S8 the super reset combo is holding down the "on" button and the volume down button at the same time for about 10 seconds. Thanks, mom! π
I ran across another fun time killer for those stuck at home...a website where you can play board games online! In case you're playing and want to send me a game invite, my user name is Calkate!

Last but not least, I saw last night that EverlyWell has created an at-home Covid-19 test. It rolled out today, though for now they are allocating their supply to "healthcare companies with workers on the frontlines in order to get these tests in the hands of those who need them most urgently." Once they're available to the general public, I think using an at-home test would be a good idea for the elderly or those with underlying health issues, since it would keep them away from other possibly sick people at a hospital or clinic. I've used EverlyWell twice, for testing allergies and hormone levels, and have found them to be good quality, user friendly and with a quick turn around.
Any fun suggestions of things to do during a pandemic?

* I'm wearing it right now! π

Hey Katie! Taxes behind me, I am finally starting to catch up on your posts! Woo hoo! Looking forward to reading it all. I read this one at the time you posted it but on my iPad which makes it difficult to comment. At last, I am able to read for a while on my laptop. Thanks for this post! Fun!
