- The Legislature reconvened today to appropriate emergency funds to deal with Covid-19. It's not posted with the online article anymore, but the picture they included was of my boss wearing a mask on the legislative floor (see right). The comments on the KETV Facebook page were appalling. People are such sanctimonious, know-it-all a**holes! They complained that only the rich get masks, why hadn't the masks been donated, if he's not sick or symptomatic there's no reason for him to wear it, how is it a senator has a mask like that when our medical/front lines people don't, blah, blah, blah. Not that it's their business, but the mask was his personal property (not supplied by the Legislature) and he falls into two of the high risk categories, which makes him a perfect candidate for wearing a mask to protect himself, especially in a semi-public location where people from all over the state will be in relatively close contact! 🤬😡 Like
- Today was the first time I'd seen my coworker in a week...longer for the boss. Technically today was my coworker's day to be in the office, but it was too weird not to be here when the Legislature was in session, so I came in anyway.
- Got through mail, emails reasonably quickly...on to Emma!
- The Accounting office was able to procure a small box of sanitizing wipes for each office, so I ran down to pick those up.
- Played Pokemon Go and Words with Friends
- After work, I watched King Lear (another Florence Pugh movie I hadn't seen; sadly, can't say I loved it. The cast was amazing - Anthony Hopkins, Emma Thompson, Emily Watson, Jim Broadbent, Andrew Scott and Christopher Eccleston - but the tempo and tone were off) and more of The Office.

| Morning prayer |
Tuesday, March 24th (worked from home)
- Slept in a little, started checking email and Hangouts at 8am.
- Watched the boss offer the morning prayer. His pastor was scheduled to do it last week, but didn't for obvious reasons. He sent the prayer he'd written to Senator Kolterman to use this morning.
- Went with the folks for a walk around the neighborhood (1.5 miles). It was so nice out, people were leaving their homes in droves to walk around outside.
- Played Pokemon Go and Words with Friends.
- Watched Superman (1941): The Mad Scientist on YouTube. I'd forgotten that cartoon existed. I enjoy the old Superman shows, both cartoons and the George Reeves' Adventures of Superman. They were cheesy, but in a good way, as well as inspirational and uplifting. I like my Batman dark and broody, not Superman.
- Watched While You Were Sleeping with my folks over dinner. It's one of my all time favorite romcoms. 💗
Wednesday, March 25th
- Got through mail and emails in about about...10 minutes? It's amazing how little we hear from people when nothing's going on.
- Read more Emma. She's insanely social-rank conscious, especially for someone at the top of the food chain. Her acquaintance with anyone, no matter how beneath her, could do nothing to injure her standing in the community and yet it constantly affects her decision making and opinion of others. It would make more sense if she were concerned about how it would affect her future, who she could marry, etc...but she neither wishes to marry (at this point) nor could anyone supplant her in hierarchy in the general vicinity if she were to say, be friends with a farmer's wife.
- The Legislature reconvened at 1:30pm for the final round of voting on the emergency funding. Once they adjourned, it was back to "we have no idea when we'll reconvene" again.
- Watched Rebecca with my folks. I haven't seen it in a long time...it's interesting how your perspective changes as you do. I still really like it and would absolutely recommend watching it, but it's funny what you notice as you get older and on the 10th viewing. It definitely makes me want to read the book again.
Fun fact: Rebecca won 2 Oscars - Outstanding Production ("Best Picture") and Best Cinematography (Black and White) - and was nominated for 9 others, including Best Director (Alfred Hitchcock), Best Actor (Laurence Olivier), Best Actress (Joan Fontaine), Best Supporting Actress (Judith Anderson), Writing (screenplay), Music (Original Score) and Special Effects. - More Pokemon Go and Words with Friends.
- Mom and I made chocolate chip cookies from scratch. Yum!
Thursday, March 26th
- May have eaten chocolate chip cookies for breakfast...because I'm an adult. 🍪
- My coworker wasn't feeling well, so I manned the office today. Fingers crossed it's just a sinus infections (a sentence I never thought I'd say).
- Caught up on emails
- Had a "discussion" with a male I'm related to about maternity leave and the fact that it exists "should end any argument of inequality in the workplace" is an illogical argument. 🤦
- Watched the president's Covid-19 update.
- Went on a toilet paper scavenger hunt. Mom's been checking all week at the grocery store near our house. The shelves have remained bare. She suggested I try one of the smaller, local grocery stores on the west side of town. Sadly, no luck there either.
- We decided to continue our Joan Fontaine & Alfred Hitchcock streak by watching Suspicion with dinner. This time Joan Fontaine won an Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role. I read up a bit about it as we were watching it. Apparently it's based on a book and changed a few key things (SPOILER: such as Cary Grant's character isn't a serial cheater and murderer in the movie).
- Later in the evening I watched Dracula (1979) because Laurence Olivier plays Prof. Abraham Van Helsing. 😮 It was...not good. Frank Langella as Dracula wasn't bad...though his hair was (to be fair, it was the 70s. So poofy). 😆

| Rainy too, as evidenced by the umbrella in the background! ☔ |
- May have gone the cookies-for-breakfast route again. 😁
- Back in the office today. My coworker is still feeling pretty crappy, so best to keep the germs away.
- Streamed Pope Francis' Urbi et Orbi Blessing at noon.
- The irony of wearing a "Hello Spring" tshirt on a cold and foggy day was not lost on me. I wore a green blazer in to work, but it was chilly enough that I needed to break out my warm office hoodie...and fluffy TOMS slippers (instead of my black TOMS Julie flats).
- More Words with Friends and Pokemon Go. I won my first battle, whoo hoo! 😎
- Tonight I'm planning to watch The Pale Horse, an Amazon adaptation of an Agatha Christie novel. I'm worried that while they have once again assembled an excellent cast (Rufus Sewell and Sean Pertwee) that, as with their other attempts, they will miss the spirit of the story and go rogue. I appreciate you can't be completely faithful when turning a book into a movie, but one gets the feeling they don't understand or enjoy the source material.
I wanted to include something non-Covid related, so I pulled some "dating questions" from a draft. When I find something interesting I may or may not want to incorporate into a post, I create a draft so that I don't lose or completely forget about it. I saved this one a while ago...before the super long "all the questions" post that I put together. Thankfully this list is a much shorter!!
These questions are meant to be conversations starters, things you'd ask and share with another human (preferably in person)...but on here we've just got me, so I answered them myself. Also, I think they could easily be asked/answered by a family member or close friend, not just a romantic partner. They're relationship building/bonding questions...just sayin'! 😊
30 questions to ask a guy you're dating to get to know him better
When you’re dating, you spend a lot of time with your person. You can have endless conversations about work, family, and friends, sure, but sometimes it would be nice to mix things up. To keep your relationship fresh and interesting, we’ve compiled a list of 30 questions to ask a guy you’re dating.
We love our partners, and we want to know everything about them (yes, everything). We want to know their hopes, their dreams, and what they had for breakfast. And while our boyfriends and girlfriends can certainly answer a straight question, it’s sometimes fun to ask a question they’re not expecting.
So that’s where this list comes in. It will spark an interesting chat between you and your person and teach you a little bit more about them. You talk all day and night, but you don’t always get the opportunity to find out what makes the person you love tick and what makes them, them.
Now, you might get some pushback from the guy you’re dating.
“Why are you asking these questions? Who cares?” You care. You want to know what embarrasses them, what they love on an ice cream sundae, and what issues they care about.
So sit down, pull out this list, and prepare to find out more about this person in a silly, enlightening, intelligent, and slightly ridiculous conversation. Here are some fun questions to ask the person you’re dating. Perfect for a special date — or just a rainy day!
The first thing I remember wanting to be was a police officer, specifically in the K-9 unit. I love(d) animals and thought that would be a super cool job.
2. What is the most important political issue to you?
2. What is the most important political issue to you?
The right to life, which really shouldn't be a "political" issue. The ability to be born should be considered basic human right. You can't have liberty and the pursuit of happiness without "life"...they really don't matter if, ya know, you aren't allowed to be born first.
3. What song could you listen to on repeat for the rest of your life?
What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong
Sound of Silence by Disturbed
February Song by Josh Groban
Misty Mountain Cold from The Hobbit
4. What would your last meal be?
Sound of Silence by Disturbed
February Song by Josh Groban
Misty Mountain Cold from The Hobbit
4. What would your last meal be?
Golly...so many good meals from which to choose. Some kind of pasta...ravioli or homemade fettuccine alfredo?
5. What reality show would you love to compete on?
Ugh, none of them. But if I haaaad to...then Wipeout. I'd die and it would be awful, but less awful than 98% of reality TV.
6. What is the most interesting thing you learned in school?
6. What is the most interesting thing you learned in school?
Learning about Queen Isabella of Castile (Spain), especially in her younger years, was very interesting. She was strong, beautiful, well educated and ahead of her times. She chose and then married even though it opposed her brother's (the king) wishes. She lead her own troops into battle, which was virtually unheard of. She and her husband, Ferdinand of Aragon, ruled equally and eventually united Spain. Basically, she was a badass.
7. Design the best ice cream sundae you could ever imagine.
7. Design the best ice cream sundae you could ever imagine.
I like a pretty basic sundae. Vanilla ice cream, hot fudge (not chocolate sauce), caramel and a maraschino cherry. If it's from Culver's, then add candied pecans. 🍨
8. What’s a rule you hated following as a kid that you’d make your kids follow?
8. What’s a rule you hated following as a kid that you’d make your kids follow?
Making your bed in the morning. I don't as an adult, but I think it's smart to have children make their beds. It promotes being neat and orderly, as well as establishing a routine and self discipline.
9. What’s been your favorite age so far and why?
Good heavens. I had a good childhood...reasonably carefree, lots of traveling. Really the only benefit of being an adult is getting to make your own decisions...so childhood, I guess? Around age 10?
10. What’s the worst date you’ve ever been on?
I haven't had any catastrophic ones actually. The worst was probably when I went to see Stardust, and that was my own fault. It was while I was in college. I was going to see it with a guy I'd just met (on Catholic Match), so I invited two of my friends to join us on the off chance I'd otherwise end up dead in his trunk. They hated Stardust and talked through the whole frickin' movie. It was so embarrassing. Side note: the guy ended up not being a serial killer, so their presence was unnecessary. 😐
Oooh...just thought of a better (well, worse) one, when the guy explained he was attracted to me.......just not physically. Points for being honest, I guess? Still, it did officially ruin the date. 😖
11. Cats or dogs?
Easy...dogs. They're loving, personable and loyal...and I'm only mildly allergic to them (unless they're super shed-y). If I look at a picture of a cat, I sneeze. 🤧
12. What’s your favorite line from a movie? Good heavens. I had a good childhood...reasonably carefree, lots of traveling. Really the only benefit of being an adult is getting to make your own decisions...so childhood, I guess? Around age 10?

Hmm...I don't know. I don't think I have one. At least not just a line. This exchange kinda stands out at the moment:
14. What is your greatest fear?
Spiders. Hate the bloody things. Also marrying someone who won't kill the spiders for me. That really needs to be included as one of their wedding vows. 😆
Well? I'm waiting...
(clearly patience would not at the top of anyone's list! 😂😂😂)

15. If you could host a dinner party with four people, living or dead, who would you invite?
I think it would depend. I'd want similar-ish people together.
Party #1 - Oscar Wilde (duh), Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Charlotte Bronte and Jane Austen...though I'd worry about Oscar completely dominating the conversation. Mostly in a good way. 😏
Party #2 - Nathan Fillion, Alan Tudyk, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.
Party #3 - Emily Blunt, John Krasinski, Yeah, just them. Don't need two other people. :)
Party #4 - St. Augustine, St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Catherine of Sienna and St. Teresa of Avila. Pick a theological topic and...go!

16. What is your dream vacation?
Well, previously a cruise would have been on the list, lol. 🚢 A cabin in the mountains sounds amazing. Somewhere close enough to civilization that you could go out and do something if you wanted, but far enough away that you could easily stay in, cook, read, watch movies, go for a hike (if you had to), sit on the porch sipping coffee or wine (depending on the time of day).
17. If you could say anything to the president, what would it be?
Put down your damn phone. Stay off of Twitter. Stick to the script. Be more respectful and a better human being. Thank you and goodbye.
18. Who was your first crush?
18. Who was your first crush?
A fella named Jake. He was a couple of years older than me, was a fellow homeschooler and came over for Spanish class one semester. We held hands behind dad's chair once and he would pour my cereal for me at breakfast, which is still the most romantic thing a man (boy) has ever done for me. 💖 Sadly it was not meant to be, though it worked out for the best since he now has a lovely wife, stepson and a beautiful new baby daughter.
19. Who inspires you regularly?
19. Who inspires you regularly?
Hmm. I guess I don't have someone specifically. I am inspired by others, but its from things I see them do. And it can be anyone.
20. What do you do when you can’t sleep?
20. What do you do when you can’t sleep?
I'm generally pretty exhausted, so getting to sleep is rarely a problem. But when it is, I either read until I can't keep my eyes open or I start writing stories in my head until I drift off.
23. Where was your first kiss?
In an elevator.
24. Would you rather splurge on the best house, the best car, the best clothes, or the best vacation?
Either best vacation or best clothes. With a house or car, you have to keep paying for it (property taxes, car registration). With clothes, you can wear/use them repeatedly, so it's kind of a long term investment, lol. For a vacation, it can make for a great experience and wonderful memories.
30. What topping do other people love that you’d NEVER put on a burger?
Pickles. Most other things I can deal with (fried egg, tomato, coleslaw)...but no pickles. Blech.
Alright...now it's your turn! Pick one or two (or all 30) and post your answer(s) as a comment!!

Bonus Videos: As you know, I enjoy things that are Myers-Briggs related. I ran across this guy who makes videos about all 16 Personality types and, while I don't know that they're super accurate, they are pretty funny.
If you know your Myers-Briggs personality type, what did you think? Was the depiction accurate?
21. Would you rather eat sushi or Mexican food for the rest of your life?
Mexican! I've acquired a taste for sushi, but there's way more variety when it comes to Mexican food, so it would take me longer to get sick of it. Also, it's better. 😎
22. What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you?
Oh gosh. Well, there's the Stardust dating story. There was that one college tour meeting, though that was mortifying (as opposed to embarrassing). I burst into tears in a Honda dealership when I was first looking for a car. I knew I only wanted to pay X for a monthly car payment, but the really fun, brand new Honda Civic coupe I'd just test drove would be Y a month and I was so overwhelmed I just started crying. I also burst into tears on my poor physical therapist last year. It was the 4th or 5th appointment and I was still in a fair bit of pain/discomfort and had never gone through something like that before (the herniated disc, taking so long to recover). I was overwhelmed and frustrated with the lack of a light at the end of the tunnel and just started crying. I felt badly for my poor therapist. It was super embarrassing. 😬23. Where was your first kiss?
In an elevator.

25. What is your biggest pet peeve?
Food noises. Eating with your mouth open, slurping, things like that. Makes my skin crawl.
26. What is your perfect Friday night?
Curling up with glass of wine (or scotch...or milkshake) and watching a movie or TV show. Just relaxing. By Friday night, I'm done. I'm tired and people'd out. You have to be pretty special/important to get me to go out and do something on a Friday night.

27. If you were designing an amusement park, what would it look like?
It would have lots of places to get ice cream. Only have a few roller coasters and rely more heavily on centripetal force rides, like the Tilt-a-Whirl.

28. What is the #1 thing on your bucket list?
A trip to Iceland...though I see having to put that off for a bit. I should go through my Pinterest "Bucket List" board and pick another one. Throw a drink in someone's face, maybe? 😁🍹
29. If you could be any animal for a day, which would you be?
Not a lobster, that's for damn sure! Probably something with wings...maybe a hawk? It's big enough you'd be left alone and you could fly around, seeing cool things from a very different perspective. Pickles. Most other things I can deal with (fried egg, tomato, coleslaw)...but no pickles. Blech.

ISFJ - not so much. Kind of, I guess? I don't know.
INFJ - I'm not on Twitter and I generally stay off news sites. I have been compulsively on FB, though not trolling for Covid-19 articles, so....
ISFJ - Little bit.
INFJ - So much yes. Ugh.
ISFJ - Sometimes. Depends on the person.
INFJ - Also sometimes. Probably more this.
ISFJ - I may be an overplanner. Better to be prepared, right? 😁
INFJ - (snicker) I may have been accused of doing this. Possibly. Maybe. 😏
ISFJ - Mmm...no. I may be plagued with guilt over something, but not to the point where I'd turn myself in.
INFJ - Mmmmmaybe? There would have to be extraordinary circumstances, like it was also pouring rain or snowing. Otherwise I'm not a "get involved with strangers" kind of person.
ISFJ - hahaha...no. 😐
INFJ - omg, yes! 😆
