I think I've mentioned once or twice in passing that Matt is on the radio for "Movie Time with Matt" on Fridays. Since I'm actually getting this up before he is on the air this morning, I thought it would be a nice topic for a post.
Sometime late spring/early summer, a friend of Matt's was eating at Dino's (Sports Bar and Grille where Matt worked until about 2 months ago) and introduced Matt to Nick Gregath, one of the host of a local ESPN radio show. The friend had told Nick about Matt (funny, smart, a movie aficionado) and after they chatted a bit, Nick told Matt he would be interested in Matt coming on the show for a short movie segment to talk about movies coming out in the theater. I think it took a few weeks to pull together, but Matt's been on almost every Friday ever since.
I think he's really enjoyed this. It's so up his alley. He's really quick, which is important...especially for radio, since you can't see facial expressions (obviously). His personality comes across really well and he has good chemistry (for lack of a better word) with both the hosts. I'm hoping that he's able to keep it up post-summer blockbusters.
Tune in at 10am (CST) to listen to him live this morning. I will post a link to the podcast once it's up later today!

I think I've also mentioned it at one point, but about two months ago Matt accepted a job at the Marcus Lincoln Grand Cinema as an assistant manager. For those who don't live in the area, that's our big, newest theater in downtown Lincoln. While it's a really good fit and I think he likes working there, I also think they might be trying to kill him. He's worked more 10-12 hour shifts than I can count now and has been putting in about 50-54 hours a week. Fortunately they're "his hours," starting in the evening and ending in the wee hours of the morning...but still. One of the biggest reasons for this (from what I understand) is that they're understaffed when it comes to assistant managers...and fortunately they just hired another person, so hopefully things will slow down a bit and he won't work such long hours. Well...after Star Wars: The Force Awakens, that is. Apparently some genius at corporate thought it would be a good idea to have The Force Awakens running 24 hours all...weekend...long. That's right...opening weekend you could go see Stars Wars any time starting at 7pm Thursday night till 3:15am (which still counts as Thursday, apparently) and then from 6am Friday morning till 4:30am that night (technically Saturday), etc.
Craziness.
And in the interests of getting this up before 10am, that's all I've got for now! TGIF and have a good weekend!
