I might have almost forgotten it was Tuesday and that I'm supposed to post something! :)
Oops.
The only thing really going on these days - besides the occasional project flaring up at work - is that my house hunting is in full swing. I had been waiting till once session ended to officially start looking and now I've seen about 6 houses, either as scheduled showings or as open houses. Yesterday mom and I went to see a townhouse on the south side of town - it's back on the market after a sale falling through and I didn't want to miss seeing it before someone else snatched it up.
I think I've pretty much talked myself out of buying it at this point. The location is my favorite thing about it...the property around it and where it's physically located. It would be an easy drive to work, it's really close to grocery stores and about 7 minutes from SouthPointe Mall...and about 2 blocks from St. Peter's. I could walk to church on Sundays, though let's be honest...how likely is that to actually happen? :)
The townhouse itself is ok. There are things I like about it and things I wasn't thrilled with. Any real problems I could find a way to work around...but since I'm not in love with it and don't really want to put all the time/effort/energy into jerry-rigging it into being somewhere I'm happy and comfortable living, I think I'll pass.
I'm going to see a free standing house at 5pm today. (Looks at clock...4:35pm) Aack! I should get going! It's in a really nice, quiet, safe neighborhood...it's 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and has a swing in the backyard. I'm hoping it works out because I like the floor plan and the only real work it needs is a lot of paint. A lot. The kitchen is what we like to call "baby poop yellow." :)
I also have a meeting set up with the US mortgage lady for tomorrow afternoon, to be officially pre-qualified for a home loan. I have a pretty good idea how much I can afford in a mortgage, but I would like a) it to be official and b) have my ducks in a row for when I do find the right place.
Wish me luck!
~ Katie
