But this is my 300th post. Which is crazy. And cool.
And the battle of Thermopylae (the premise of 300) isn't a bad metaphor for the Legislature either, depending on the day.
We are officially "past the point of no return" for introducing bills. Senator Kolterman ended up with six bills, which isn't too bad. Senator Coash dropped ten bills, which is pretty average for him. Some people are crazy and introduce a gazillion bills. One senator I know dropped thirty-six bills (including committee bills). That means he not only has to survive thirty-six hearings, but write thirty-six opening statements, statements of intent and all the paperwork associated with those thirty-six bills.
Insanity.
I know other states are worse. A friend of mine works for the legislature in California and I think he said they have a cap at forty bills per person. And there are 80 members of their State Assembly! Just one more reason I'm grateful to not work in the California Assembly. I'm sure their State Senate isn't much better, even though it only has 40 members. They are also in session year round (with about a month recess, according to Wikipedia), which would also be terrible. The only way I survive session is because of interim.
Highlight of the week? Andre Peach Moscato. It's pretty cheap, really good...and may end up constituting a "problem."
So yeah. That's about all I've got for you today...except for wishing you a very happy Friday!
TGIF...x infinity!
