I'm not a make-up fanatic, mostly because whenever I try something outside my comfort zone it looks like I let an 8 year old attack my face with everything in her mother's make-up kit. No, seriously...it's pathetic. My "comfort zone" consists of some oldies-but-goodies: Clinique liquid foundation, a Neutrogena bronzer, Clinique pressed powder and a Clinique powder blush (yay freebies!). Add a little eye shadow, generally of a neutral color, and possibly some eyeliner and I'm ready to head out the door. Special occasions call for brighter/more colorful eye shadow and mascara (waterproof is your friend!)...but that's about it.
I do find simple make-up tips helpful, since I'm not looking for anything particularly unusual or attention grabbing. I started applying bronzer before the pressed powder because of something I read (makes it look a little more natural) and so was interested in the "Right way to apply blush" email that PureWow sent out a couple days ago. I like a nice, natural look when it comes to make-up, and so was interested in their short video that shows a nifty little trick "on picking a hue, creating a natural contour and learning how to find your cheekbones without making some sort of idiotic face. (Stop fish-kissing, people!)"
So I'm thinking of shaking things up a little and trying out the "right way" to use blush and am contemplating a trip to Ulta (Ulta brand on sale, 2 for $12) or Target...whichever I arrive at first...to pick out light and darker shades of blush to try.
Enjoy and happy Tuesday!
