Ten years later...

March 14th, 2004...it's hard to believe that was ten years ago.

Ten years ago today I lost my grandparents - Robert and Norma Murphy - when they were killed by a drunk driver on his way home from the South Side Irish St. Patrick's Day Parade in Chicago.

It is unbelievable how much devastation one poor decision can cause and how many people can be affected by it - five children...Carleen, Bob, Jim, Rita and Mary...nine grandchildren - Robert (Bobby), Katie, Jimmy and Johnny Murphy, Michael, Danny and Timmy Jolls, Matt and me...and countless other relatives and friends.

We lost two amazing people that day, because someone decided to get drunk and then get behind the wheel.

Call a taxi...have a designated driver with you or on standby...or golly gee, don't spend a ton of money at a bar or restaurant on alcohol...

Just please don't drink and drive.

It's not worth the risk.
