Ted's "Killer Peanut Pesto" From How I Met Your Mother

I started watching How I met Your Mother a year or so ago and have just caught up with the current season. I like (most of) the main characters and think the show does a really good job balancing between making the characters very relatable and at the same time having them lead over-the-top lives doing exaggerated things that make you feel better about yourself.

As far as relatability goes, I think I'm a combo of Robin (more girly, less slutty...no offense, Robin), with a healthy dose of Ted (hopeless romantic, a bit needy). I know people who are fairly solid Robins, Teds, Barney/Ted combos, a few Marshall & Lilys...and thankfully no solid Barneys. :) It's part of what makes the show fun, noticing things that you do/think/feel or that people you know do, etc. that you can attribute to characters on the show. Not going to lie, I've definitely thought "that's such a Ted thing to do" on more than once occasion. :)

But I'm getting way off topic...

I think it was in season 3 that Ted started dating Stella, the doctor who removed Ted's butterfly tramp stamp...and who's receptionist is Brittany Spears. Their first date was adorable, the cutest two minute date ever. Sometime later he makes them a romantic dinner, which included his "Killer Pesto." One tiny hitch...Stella's allergic to peanuts! Thankfully no one died...though Ted may have wished he had once (*SPOILER*) Stella leaves him at the altar in the next season. And a not-so-spoiler...Stella's not "Your Mother." :)

All of  this intro for a pesto recipe! :) HelloGiggles posted the recipe for it, but if you don't want to sift through a lot Ted bashing, you can just get it below!

  1. Pretty sure that by calling it a peanut pesto, that should indicate that people with the dreaded peanut allergy shouldn't be within 50 yards of it.
