The Dark Knight Rises Tragedy

I remember sitting at my desk and reading the news about the Aurora shooting the morning after last year. I was still excited from having seen The Dark Knight Rises at the midnight showing myself the night before and couldn't believe that I was reading about something so tragic associated with it the very next day. As the story unfolded and the acts of heroism in the wake of such senseless evil came to light, I was heartbroken for the people who died and so angry at the perpetrator.

Now, a year later, for the sake of the 12 people who died and the 70 who were injured, I think the focus needs to remain on the victims, their family and friends. The mass murderer doesn't deserve our time or consideration at this point. We shouldn't remember his name or have to see his picture in the news. Instead we should remember the names of those who died and mourn their loss...and pray for them and for their loved ones who must be going through a terrible time on the anniversary of their deaths.

CNN put together a tribute page for the victims, with a picture and information about each person who died that night. Click here to view it.

Eternal rest grant unto them, oh Lord...
