We've been very fortunate when it comes to Covid. Several friends have caught it, with symptoms ranging from just losing their sense of smell to extreme fatigue, fevers and terrible coughs. My coworker who caught it on November 6th is still dealing with fluctuating symptoms, including exhaustion, and two friends in California ended up in the emergency room with Covid-induced pneumonia. Thankfully they're on the road to recovery.
Today it hit a little closer to home, sort to speak.
My sister Shelly was tested on Monday and just found out she's positive. She's dealing with fatigue and a bad cough, but is doing ok otherwise. Thankfully she'll be out of quarantine before Christmas, so she should be able to spend time with family (her daughters and granddaughters). Fingers crossed she doesn't end up with a version with symptoms hang on forever.
We also found out today that the husband of one of my dad's nieces passed away. Last night I was Facebook messaging with a family member (we have about 10,000 on his side of the family), who let me know Ramon was in a coma fighting Covid...and then she confirmed this afternoon that he'd passed. I don't remember meeting him, though I'm sure I did as a child, since he was the husband of one of dad's favorite nieces. Apparently several other family members in Southern California have had it, but he was the first one to have a very severe case and the first one lost.
If you could keep Ramon's family and the repose of his soul in your prayers, as well as my sister, that she has a quick and complete recovery, I'd really appreciate it.
On the non-human front - Joey had 4 seizures in less than 24 hours on Sunday (into Monday). He's recovering ok...doing the drunk man, Wabbles McGee walk and randomly spazzing a bit. Since there were so many so close together, we decided to finally put him on the anti-seizure meds. Hopefully it will help prevent him from having further episodes, poor little guy.
Katie- Thank you for asking for prayers for Ramon's family and for the repose of his soul. He was in his early 60s. His wife, as you know, is Dad's beloved neice, Livier.I have such fond memories of those two. She is so kind, her husband was a nice, quiet hardworking man. Your Dad would stay at their home whenever he visited So. California. They'd give up their master bedroom for him. So kind. She and her sister, Eva, married 2 brothers. It was so sweet. They raised their families side by side and are the most giving,, loving people. Thanks too for prayers for Shelly. I am so grateful she seems to be recovering and that she can spend Chistmas with her girls, her Mom and her granddaughters! Hard to believe it has been 5 years since we last went there for a visit!
