Masquerade!!!!

It finally happened! And wasn't cancelled!!! :)

Alchemy's 3rd Annual Masquerade Ball was rescheduled from the end of April to Sat., June 27th and honestly I kept expecting it to either get moved again or cancelled all together. And boy, I'm so glad it wasn't! This was the first event I've been to since Covid hit and I had an absolute blast. The attendance was reasonably limited, so I wasn't uncomfortable being out and about. Plus everyone was wearing masks, albeit on the wrong half of their faces! 😄

Getting to dress up and go out with some of my favorite people to eat, drink and dance was so much fun. My dancing skills were a bit rusty - I waltz'd with Sean and kept stepping on his toes (so embarrassing!), but I managed Swing and the Fox Trot with Sam relatively well. I enjoy dancing so much. 💖

And of course, pictures were taken.

I ordered a bunch of masks from Amazon and decided on this one because it's
a little different and seemed like it would be more comfortable/cooler.
The gloves were worn on and off during the evening.

This was the first time I'd gotten a haircut since Covid and the beautician was
nice enough to curl my hair when I told her I was attending a Masquerade Ball that night.
Katie, Jordan and Sam's masks were botanically themed, so Katie let me use some left over
flowers from her mask so I could join in on the horticultural motif.

I ended up wearing the black velvet dress, instead of the blue ruffly one.

I was definitely humming "Masquerade" while getting ready!

The cool kids (L to R) - me, Sam, Katie and Jordan.
I think we still looked pretty spiffy at midnight after drinks and dancing!

The Katies!

The lovely Anetsbergers!

Hors d'oeuvres were served throughout the evening. I'm not sure what this was,
but it was delicious. It was some kind of bread (pita?) with a creamy guac and bright pico de gallo...or at least that's what it tasted like!

This was a deviled egg with bacon and a maple glaze, if I remember correctly.
Pictured with it was my second drink - Capitol Punishment: Stolen whiskey, maple tobacco bitters, orange bitters, and oleo saccharum syrup. My first was called Crooked Tiles: Nolet's Gin, wild berries, fresh lime juice, white creme de cocoa, and a wash of absinthe.

The bruschetta was amazing. Not pictured was drink #3 - a spicy watermelon mule. So good.

There aren't enough occasions for adults to dress up and dance. We were talking about all the opportunities we had in high school and how much we still enjoy it. Hopefully there will be similar events in the future - though if nothing else, we can attend the 4th Annual Masquerade Ball next year! 😊
