Just wanted to post a quick update. I went to our GP yesterday and he thinks I have a herniated disc. That's good and bad news...good in that I know what I'm dealing with (the chiropractor also thought it was disc related, but it's nice to have confirmation) and bad because of how eff-ing long it takes to recover.
The doctor prescribed steroids to help with inflammation and a muscle relaxant to help me sleep through the night...and I'm going to PT at least a couple times starting next week. I'm hoping these will help hasten getting back to "normal life." I stopped in the office for a little over an hour today to go through mail, etc. I decided to call it once it started feeling "a bit much," since I still needed to drive myself home.
Oh yeah...I'm driving again. Yesterday was the first time in 12 days. I drove myself to the chiropractor...it's only about 6 minutes from the house, so I thought it was a good "test run." I managed ok and today was mostly fine too. I'll take what victories I can get.
The only other good news was I've lost some weight. I'm back down to where I was in February, before I said to heck with it, I'm eating a damn cheeseburger, pasta or doughnut if I want to! 🍔 When eating and drinking can only be done when you're sitting or standing - neither of which is comfortable - you tend to eat less. Plus the lack of activity has kept me from feeling hungry, so that's helped too.
My plan for next week is to start going in to the office for a few hours at a time. I'm going to bring one of my ice packs with me so I can keep up with the "20 minutes of cold, then an hour off" cycle. That should help extend how long I'm able to stick around.
Any prayers for my swift and complete recovery would be greatly appreciated!

Lots of prayers! So happy to see you making progress and getting better! Take it slowly! No set backs! I have to say it again- I am so impressed with how you handled this back injury- so gracefully and without complaint. You carefully followed all instructions from your doctor and your awesome Aunt/Nurse and I am sure that's a big reason why you are getting better- along with all of the prayers!
