Back in September, I wrote about the Nebraska Commission on Indian Affairs contacting me to commission some photography after seeing my canvases for sale in the Capitol Gift Shop. Sadly the Commission did not follow up with purchasing any of the photographs*, however the images themselves have not gone to waste.
Two senators have been very involved with Native American related projects and legislation the past few years and, as a congratulations for one of their major projects coming to fruition, my boss ordered them each a canvas of Chief Standing Bear on Centennial Mall. They both have them displayed in their offices. As a birthday gift last year, my coworkers and I ordered the boss some personalized note cards that utilized two of my Capitol photographs. He liked them so much he ordered another set for himself and one for a fellow senator.
When a third senator noticed and liked the note cards, they contacted me about ordering some for themselves. I sent them a couple mock-ups and price options...and then didn't hear anything for a bit. They popped in the office for meetings a few times and always mentioned that they needed to get back to me. But weeks passed and I figured they changed their mind or it cost more than they were anticipating...until I ran into them after hours. I picked up pizzas for a few senators on a late night this week and when I dropped it off, the senator asked if we could take a look at the options and place an order.
Effusive is an understatement. They were so enthusiastic about the photographs I had a hard time believing them. Placing an order for $105 worth of note cards went a long way toward convincing me. ๐
This is the biggest purchase from Wilde Photography to date, other than one order from the Capitol Gift Shop when they purchased five canvases at one time (typically it's four)!
Grand scheme it's not a big deal...but it is nice to feel like this is more than just a hobby. ๐ท
Hopefully the note cards will continue to be a hit and lead to more orders!

* Side rant - months later, I was contacted to see if I could provide them with digital copies of the photographs to possibly be included in an informational brochure about Centennial Mall that they were working on with the Lincoln Parks Foundation. Once the issue of reimbursement was brought up, they ghosted again. ๐ป (grumble, grumble, grumble)

So glad how many fun turns your photography has taken! There are so many photos I really enjoy. Thank you! My home office looks great thanks to you giving me 2 of my favorites!
