I started working on this post last Friday, but then things got busy at work and I was too lazy to disconnect my laptop from my TV once I got home. My PS3 has been bratty lately, so I've been streaming shows via my laptop, which works really well except that I have to get up to change anything, instead of using a controller (#firstworldproblems).
The Maroon V concert last Tuesday was a lot of fun. I headed downtown with some time to spare (what?!) and, thanks to pre-paid parking in the lot across from the arena, I found a spot quickly and headed toward PBA (Pinnacle Bank Arena). I then encountered the longest line into PBA that I've ever seen. Because of new security precautions there was a three block long line through the Railyard (not a literal railyard) of people waiting to get into the arena. Thankfully it moved pretty quickly and the sky refrained from raining all over us (it was a distinct possibility).
There were two opening acts - R. City and some chick who was entirely forgettable. The first couple of songs R. City sang I didn't know, but then they commented that we (the audience) have heard their songs and didn't know they were R. City's. They listed off other several, all I've heard before. This was my favorite, even before hearing the inspiration behind it. Their father (R. City's lead singers are two brothers) spend 5 years in prison when they were young and their mother decided to stick it out and wait for him. They've now been married for 39 years.

Maroon V's performance was fun...good music and lots of energy. They opened up with night with "Moves like Jagger" and sang a nice mix of old and new songs for almost 2 hours. The encore was "She will," sung at the end of the arrow runway (see photo #3).
While their songs aren't horribly explicit, many aren't super family friendly either. Across the aisle from me was a group that brought two little girls, maybe 8-9 years old, which concerned me a little...mostly due to the fact that the girls were singing along with most of the songs. They're just old enough to start asking questions, which could make for some interesting conversations. Hopefully they were still young enough to just enjoy the beat and rhythm without paying attention to the specifics.
Random fun fact: one of the lead guitarist - James Valentine - is a Lincoln, Nebraska native.
That's about as exciting as things are right now...other than I have another cold. It's my third one this year...and I do not approve. :(
