(Half) Snow Day!

While we didn't quite get the stormageddon that had been predicted, it was still pretty bad. The Legislature decided to just do a "check-in day" today...which basically meant that they needed 25 senators to show up (a quorum), check in and then adjourn. They convened at 10am and had 23-25 senators...and then they sat around for about 45 minutes waiting for two more to show up so they could all leave.

20th Street, south of A Street

I made it in to work around 9:30am and only stayed till noon. The drive was a little harrowing...never went over 25 mph and did a bit of fish tailing a couple times. I took A Street and made it to 20th Street before running into an accident. When I tried to turn on 20th, this is what I saw. Needless to say, I turned around and went down a different side street.

On the drive home, it was raining (raining!), which turned to sleet...back to rain...and then sleet again. The weather has been so weird. I figured the afternoon would get even worse, if the temp dropped...the rain would turn into a sheet of ice and it would get really treacherous. Not going to lie, I'm a bit worried about tomorrow...lots of heavy snow, ice and normal traffic. Ugh...

A really nice neighbor came over and used our snowblower to clear our driveway. By the time he finished, there was another layer of pellet snow/sleet covering everything, including my car. Thank God for garages.

So yeah...good luck, stay safe and don't get stuck in a snow drift!
