Halloween 2015

♫ It's that time of year... ♫

Ooh wait...wrong holiday. :)

This year has been a banner Halloween for me, with three different opportunities to dress up and have some fun.

On Friday senators and staff brought trick-or-treaters through the Capitol. I did some decorating in and outside the office (see below) and spruced up my traditional Batman costume (pics also below). A lot of these kids who came by I only see once a year when they come thru for Halloween, so it's great to see how much they've grown!

I found these fun Batman tights about a month ago and had to buy them!

On Saturday (Halloween) I got together with some friends for dinner and then we tried the new Missing Musician Escape Room. As you can see below, I dressed up as a cop. I couldn't find any complete costume sets that weren't totally skanky, so I pieced this together myself, courtesy of Amazon, Gap and Wal-Mart.

On Sunday I got together with the guys up in Omaha and we had a post-Halloween party...which pretty much meant a couple people dressing up and there was more candy and other food items than usual. :)  I didn't end up getting a picture of my Vanessa Ives (from Penny Dreadful) costume, but did snap a couple of the color contacts I bought for it. Eva Green (who plays Vanessa in the show) has blue eyes, so I thought it would be fun to get some colored contacts to go with the costume. I thought they were pretty fun, though they started to get a bit irritating after a couple of hours.

It was a little odd looking in the mirror and not seeing brown eyes staring back at me, but it was kind of a fun change too...a bit like when I bought a red wig for my Amy Pond costume. It makes me want to get a pair of green ones, just for the fun of it. I love dark hair and green eyes...very black Irish. :)

That's about all I've got. Hope everyone had a fun and safe weekend!

Song of the day: One of the best parts of The Hobbit trilogy (it hurts my head to write that!) was the music. "I See Fire" by Ed Sheeran was one of my favorites. I can't remember if I've posted it before or not (I kind of think I have), but just in case...
