Review - Essie "Smokin' Hot"

Hey, I didn't name it!

If you'd asked me what the color "Smokin' Hot" would look like, I would have guessed bright, deep red...ya know, hot and smoldering?

Smokin' does fit this color, though. It's a purple grey, a rich smokey hue.

I think it's going to be my "color of the season."

I really want to paint a wall the same shade. I kind of want to walk into Home Depot or Lowes and just hand them my little bottle of nail polish and say "This. I want this shade right here. Not 'Merino Cool' or Demure Vixen*.' Smokin' Hot. Because...rawr." :)

Not gonna lie, I can hear Mrs. Blandings (from Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House) in my head. "Now the dining room I'd like yellow. Not just yellow...a very gay yellow. Something bright and sunshiny. I tell you, Mr. Pendelford...if you'll send one of your workmen to the grocer for a pound of their best butter and match that exactly, you can't go wrong!"

Amazingly, the "paint clip" is on Youtube. Enjoy. :)

In general I'm a fan of the brand, Essie. It's right up there with OPI. It's sold many places, like Target, Beauty First or Ulta. I bought mine at Target (my "excuse" was I was having a bad day and Cartwheel had a 10% off coupon), but with Ulta's weekly $3.50 off $10 coupon it would be cheaper at Ulta. Apparently they have a $5 off $15 coupon online...in case you're planning to order anything from Ulta soon, the coupon code is 205730.

Unfortunately they won't let you link to a specific shade, but click the link below and you can use the color swatches to click on Smokin' Hot, which is near end...between "Topless and Barefoot" and "Ladylike"...which I find a bit ironic. :)

TGIF and have a good weekend.

Song of the Day: Gravedigger (acoustic) by Dave Matthews. It popped up on Pandora for the first time yesterday. I'd never heard it before. It's mellow and sad...and I really liked it.

"Gravedigger, when you dig my grave,
could you make it shallow, so I can feel the rain?"

* No seriously...that's a real color. I don't know if I'm offended or just find it really funny. :)
