#tallgirlproblems

Rarely do I mind being...not short. I'm mostly a big fan. I mean, I'm not really tall-tall. At 5' 8½", I'm a bit taller than the average woman (a little online research puts the US average between 5'3"- 5'5"). I can reach most things on top shelves and have a better view when standing at concerts, thanks to long legs. I'm taller than most of my female (and a several of my male) friends. I can also pull off 3"- 4"heels without being a skyscraper (something with which my mother would likely disagree). So for the most part, I am quite happy with my height in general.

A couple notable exception to this would be when searching for a short (but not to the point of indecent) Halloween costume or when browsing dresses at Modcloth.com, JustFab.com or Express. I swear they think their entire clientele is under 5' 6"! At Express the dresses and skirts tend to be just on the line of "yeah, I think I can pull this off" and "oh good god." I've ordered one dress from JustFab and while it was super cute, it was a good two inches too short to wear to work (which is why I bought it). And forget Modcloth. I've talked myself into keeping 2-3 dresses from them over the years, but have had to send back at least as many. I need to be able to walk and preferably bend over without causing a scene, thanks!

The reason for this height related rant is because a recent costume purchase turned out to be an epic failure. I received an email from Spirit Halloween about a big sale to celebrate "halfway to Halloween" and so I ordered a costume that turned out to be quite a disappointment. Forget walking or bending, just standing there was a wardrobe malfunction. If I'd been just two inches shorter (or it was 2" longer), I could have worked with it. I toyed with the idea of trying to fix it, but was really nothing to be done...so it's going back. Sigh.

If this was a one time occurrence, no biggie. But after years of being foiled by short skirts and dresses, it gets frustrating. I can't imagine what it must be like for women 6' and taller. Although they have "Tall" lines of clothing, which of course are too long for me. Bah and phooey.

On that over-dramatic note, TGIF and have a great weekend!

P.S. The baby girl my friends Jess and Tim are adopting is due on Sunday...so any & all prayers for a safe (and quick!) delivery, a healthy baby and for the birthmother and Jess & Tim would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! :D

P.P.S. While searching for a picture to include with this post, I found some great "Tall Girl Problems" pics and included some below. Enjoy. :)

True Story. :)

Also true...though with my luck, Mr. Right will be 5' 7"!

Sigh...

Can and do! :)

I'm not that tall...but I thought this one was pretty funny, so I included it anyway. :)
