My favorite Texans - Jessica and Tim - started taking official steps toward adopting back in December. They signed up with an adoption agency, started a blog to detail the process and a YouCaring page to fundraise for the adoption (which, in case you didn't know, is expensive!). Jessica found this great puzzle idea, where pieces of the puzzle represent donations. It's a build-as-you-go kind of thing, with the idea being that once they meet their goal, the completed puzzle will be hung in the baby's room.The expectation of the agency was that, if everything went smoothly, they should be able to place a baby with Jess & Tim some time mid-to-late summer. As it turned out, God had other plans for the timing, location, facilitating and well, just about everything.
As exciting as this is, it really pushed up the timetable and things started needing to fall into place like, yesterday. The funding, homestudy, background checks...flying out to California to meet the birthmother in person...painting & decorating the nursery, buying a crib, building the crib & cleaning up after Maggie (the dog) when she destroyed the box...and planning for once they bring Baby C. home, which will be just over a month from now (knock-on-wood and God willing!).
One more month!
I'm so excited for Jessica and Tim, I can't even tell you. They are going to be the most amazing parents. Anything you could do to support them - be it praying that everything goes smoothly this last month...that the birthmother has an easy and safe delivery...that Baby C. is born happy and healthy - or helping with the last push to meet their fundraising goal by making a financial donation via their YouCaring page, I know they would greatly appreciate it!
