Oh IKEA, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways! :)
It's no secret that I love wandering through the maze that is IKEA, in whatever state I come across one. With their expected opening in Merriam, KS this fall, I can't help but get excited and begin contemplating the endless possibilities their home decor provides.
I have always been a fan of their Expedit shelving systems, which has recently been updated with rounder corners to be more "kid friendly." The TV storage unit I like is only $149.The 4x4 square block shelving unit is one of my favorites...I have seen it used as a room divider (pictured to the right) and it's a great way to break up small spaces while still allowing flow between rooms. This particular block storage comes is several colors, including black-brown, high gloss red and high gloss grey. Most of my current shelving leans towards espresso or black-brown, but red might be a nice way to add a pop of color to a room. The smaller 2x4 shelves also come in several colors, like high gloss turquoise or high gloss pink (bleh). They also have some great bedroom options, from the beds themselves to closet organization. Below is the Stolmen 3 section closet system, which would also be a really cool way to break up a sleeping and sitting area. If I had a wall big enough, I would have a lot of fun with the Algot system, one of the units that comes with so many choices! While it's not their most heavy duty option, it makes up for it by providing endless alternatives.
I love their Hemnes daybed (pictured to the left), which has 3 drawers for storage and has come down in price a couple hundred bucks over the last few years. I also like the Malm bed frame...it's rather plain, but does provide 4 drawers worth of storage.
And don't even get me started on their living room furniture! The Ektorp Sofa is still my favorite, even though they stopped carrying the beautiful black and white pattern that I loved. The Svanby Grey is a nice alternative and would be easy to coordinate with the rest of your furniture. The fact that they have removable slip covers is also great, since you're then able to throw them in the wash from time to time. I like some of the pieces in the Kivik collection, but would miss having arm rests.
So yeah...yay IKEA! :)
Enjoy and happy Tuesday!
