Weird Holiday Themed Foods

Since a food-oriented holiday just passed, I thought it would be a good time to share this poach from HelloGiggles. :)

There are plenty of holiday or seasonal foods that aren't weird, like turkey on Thanksgiving or when pumpkin spice lattes ring in fall...and then there are the 12 stellar examples below.

Gina Vaynshteyn broke them into to groups, the winners and losers of the holiday snack selection...and the winners are:

1. Mike’s Hard Chocolate Cherry Lemonade

- Can't say I've every had any chocolate flavored alcohol that I've liked and most cherry flavored drinks just taste syrup-y, so I don't know that I'd be willing to try this one.

2. Pumpkin Cream Cheese from Trader Joe’s

- You had me at pumpkin. :)  I haven't tried Trader Joe's cream cheese, but I can tell you their Pumpkin Butter is delicious on a piece of toast or if you mix about a half teaspoon into your coffee.

3. Gingerbread Twix

10698614366_0be2dde189- I feel like this one would either be really good or completely disgusting.

4. Diet Cranberry Ginger Ale

- You lost me at diet...and again at ginger ale.

5. Pecan Pie ice-cream

- Hmm...this I would be willing to try. I'm not a big pecan pie fan, but it gives me a nostalgic feeling because an old friend of the family used to make it when I was a kid in California.

6. Pumpkin Pie Pop Tarts

- This one I'm a little more skeptical of for some reason, but I admit I'd try it if someone set it in front of me. :)

And the holiday losers are:

1. Gingerbread M&Ms

- I would be willing to try these. Since it's on the losers list, I would expect them to be a little gross, but conceptually I could see them working.

2. McDonald’s Sweet Potato Pies

- Nice try, McD! While your wraps were a good stab at a healthful offering, don't over do it.

3. Jones Soda Holiday Pack
pring- I'm sorry, you lost me at "Turkey" in the list of soda flavors, which are turkey and gravy, sweet potato, dinner roll, pea and antacid (seriously). Bleh.

4. White Chocolate Peppermint / Pumpkin Pie Spice / Cinnamon & Sugar Pringles

- Oh hell no. That's just gross. Ok, I'd try the pumpkin pie spice, but only because I have a serious pumpkin problem. Otherwise, nuh uh.

 5. Turkey Doritos

- Not going to lie...if I saw these in the store, I would have to buy & try them!

6. Bacon flavored candy canes

- Full disclosure...I bought my boss bacon mints for his birthday one year...so this isn't that much of a stretch. They were really gross...they didn't taste a lot like bacon, but they wreaked of bacon grease and mint. Not a good combo.

And if those weren't enough, there's also the slideshow of 10 Crazy Food Combinations.

Enjoy!

  2. I am laughing at Bill's comment.. and at your editorials of each item... the Pringles are such a stretch... I'd have liked to have been in that Board room as some guy was pitching these ideas... clearly their marketing department needs a tune-up! ha! Can't say I'd try Turkey Doritos... I am sure after reading the list of ingredients, I'd run in the other direction! You are a braver woman than I !
