Movie Review- Thor: The Dark World

The latest installment in the Marvel franchise is Thor: The Dark World, which came out a week ago and I'm happy to report that this sequel was not a disaster and is well worth seeing! :)

Thor 2 has a great returning cast, including Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis and llan Skarsgård as Erik Selvig, as well as newcomer Christopher Eccleston as Malekith, the new big bad - an evil dark elf intent on destroying...well, everything.

We left Thor heading back to Asgard to help restore peace and tranquility to the nine realms, post-saving Midgard (Earth). Now, two years later, Jane Foster is still pining for him, hence trying to find him, which leads to her getting sucked into a wormhole. Trouble inevitably ensues, which leads to Thor swooping in and carrying Jane off to Asgard. The world nearly ends, some important people die and the 9th Doctor is a sociopathic dark elf.

In my humble opinion, Tom Hiddleston basically steals the show as Loki, the god of mischief, being his conniving, villainous self. And beware the faint of heart...there's an obligatory scene where Thor is shirtless, which I found particularly amusing due to the exasperated groans being emitted by my movie viewing buddy. :)

And be sure to stay through the credits...there a nice little teaser for those patient enough to linger in the theater a couple extra minutes.

Enjoy and happy viewing!
