Xtreme Xperience Super Car Driving

For Father's Day my brother bought a Groupon deal for Xtreme Xperience's super car driving experience for himself and dad. I think it's safe to say it's something neither of them will ever forget! Props to Matt for the Father's Day present of the year!

Essentially the idea is that you get to drive a super hot, flashy, fast and uber expensive sports car around a speedway in the middle of nowhere Iowa...which is something you've never done before and are not likely to ever have the chance to do again.

The company travels around the country and makes this experience available in multiple locations throughout the year. Their last stop (before the Mid America Motorplex in Pacific Junction, Iowa) was at the NAPA Speedway in Albuquerque, New Mexico and their next stop is at the Autobahn Country Club in Joliet, Illinois.

The cars they had available to choose from at this stop were the Lamborghini LP560-4 (which Matt drove as a black convertible), the Ferrari F430 F1 (which Dad drove), the Porsche 997/911 Turbo, the Audi R8 4.2 FSI Quattro (which is what I would have chosen to drive...I love Audis) and the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG.

It was a really neat experience and one I loved getting a chance to photograph. It was a beautiful day (albeit hot and really humid), so it made for some fantastic pictures. I got a little sunburned, but nothing too bad...I'm just hoping it turns into a lovely tan for my troubles! :)

  1. Looks like fun!

I found this channel awhile back and thought you might be interested. It's a few guys who go out and do some unique types of reviews on old and new cars (mostly new). Pretty cool, even though they were hating on my car :D

  2. Fun! What kind of car do you drive?

I think this is my car (although they labeled it wrong...its AWC, not AWD)! :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cimz9T104S8

  3. Well it's still all-wheel drive, right? They just have a goofy name?

We are moving to Texas in a couple months (I'm assuming I told you this already), so part of the preparation was to trade in our nearly 20 year old cars and get newer/new ones. I ended up with a used 2012 Chrysler 200 LX with the V6 and upgraded 18" wheels (oh yeah, and heated seats and mirrors... totally pointless on the 3rd coast!). Last weekend we went to pick up the missus' brand new 2013 model Dodge Charger SXT with the same V6 (except it has rear drive!) as well as the sport appearance package that gets us a spoiler and shiny 18" wheels. We're very happy with both!

    1. Well, it's more like 4WD, since you can turn it off. AWD is on all the time, but All Wheel Control (AWC) can be turned off...so it's 2WD most of the time (better gas mileage!) and then when the weather is bad, I can turn on the AWC so that there's power going to all 4 wheels.

I knew about your mending Texas move...an exciting and scary prospect, I'm sure. I like Chargers...they're fun looking cars. I think we've rented one before...they're pretty roomy for a sedan. And sporty. Sporty is important. :)

I'm a big fan of my Lancer. There are times when I miss the Eclipse...it was a lot of fun to drive, but the Lancer has a lot more room and because of the AWC is much better in the winter. So far so good...I'm happy with my decision to lease it. :)

    2. Yeah we decided we didn't need a minivan just yet, but it's nice to have plenty of room for when baby #2 comes along. Dominic's car seat is enormous, so I know there's no way to get 3 back there at this point.

I always thought it was cool you did the lease thing. Seems to make a lot of sense for you and you don't get stuck with all the "fun" of ownership.

    3. Yeah, it's worked out pretty well. I don't drive that much, so I don't have to worry about going over the mileage limitations...and it allowed me to get a car that I couldn't otherwise afford with almost all the bells and whistles I wanted! :)
